Shield Guarding sets sights on major growth

The Shield Guarding Company is targeting major growth this year now that majority shareholder Topsgrup has 100 per cent of the UK businessís shares.

The security solutions group has a three-year plan to rise from a £62 million turnover to around £100 million, says company chief executive John Roddy.

This month, Shield plans to move into new corporate offices in London, where major growth potential exists in the financial and property management sectors, said Roddy. Shield will now focus on a total security management offering, especially in these sectors, he said.

An organisational restructuring will see more co-ordination of services to clients and include manned guarding, CCTV, reception and front-of-house services and alarm systems and installation.

The company maintains its own alarm receiving and response service in Preston.

The coalition Government announced in November 2012 that fresh proposals are being made to shift the responsibility of regulating and monitoring industry standards for 330,000 staff security from the SIA onto an estimated 4,200 UK businesses in a bid to increase transparency and accountability within the security industry.

However, before plans can be put into place, a public consultation period was launched on 20th November 2012 and is due to close on 15 January 2013 to ensure all relevant issues and concerns are identified.

Such plans to alter the current regulatory regime have ...  [ more ]
