 Economic slow down puts security companies in severe financial danger

According to a new study by Plimsoll Publishing, massive congestion amongst the UK’s largest Security companies is putting unprecedented pressure on the managers of these companies to keep their companies in the market.

The study found that the UK’s largest 169 companies now control 85% of the market, an increase from 81% 2 years ago. As a result, these major companies are fighting each other headlong in a battle for market share. This is having a huge impact on their financial performance.

Of the 169 Security companies surveyed:
* 51 of the companies are showing no sales increases at all
* 43 are selling less than they were 2 years ago
* 103 companies have failed to increase sales at the same rate as their investment.
* 87 companies increased their debts simply to hold their place in the market.

 G4S provides frontline Port Security and access control for ABP Port Estates

ABP (Associated British Ports) Humber has appointed G4S Security Services (UK), part of G4S plc, to provide a range of security services across the Ports of Grimsby, Immingham (South Humber), Hull and Goole (North Humber).

The contract is fixed for five years. G4S will provide frontline Port Security and access control for Port Estates. G4S has a successful relationship with ABP UK and already provides security solutions for ABP Southampton.

Douglas Greenwell, Sales and Marketing Director, G4S Security Services (UK), said: “We are delighted to have secured this contract. ABP Humber needed a specialist in the maritime sector. With our experience of working with ABP Southampton and the capability to provide UK coverage, we are hoping this is just the next step in forging a wider and longer term relationship between the two companies.”
