SitexOrbis secures Hammersmith Palais

It started life as a 19th century tram shed, became a glamorous dance hall in 1919 and was the first venue in London to host Dixieland jazz. But, during the last few years, Hammersmith Palais first went downhill with school discos, then closed and became home to squatters and drunks. Neighbours complained - something had to be done.

In the spring of 2009, owners London and Regional Properties contacted SitexOrbis on the recommendation of its insurers, Aviva. SitexOrbis’ South-Eastern team, one of whom had lived in Hammersmith, understood what the problems were.

“The local team knows the area well,” said Mark Cosh, European Director. “This massive space, which had been partially demolished, had become a focus for squatters, street drinkers and even illegal raves. As well as the impact on local residents, there was a huge health and safety risk. People could literally walk right in off the street, and one half of the building was just rubble, creating major hazards.”

CBC teams up with 802 Global to protect park-and-ride car parks for Maidstone Borough Council

Maidstone Borough Council in Kent, which operates the park-and-ride facilities, has also successfully used the cameras to reduce the number of vehicles entering the town centre, improve the local environment and cut vehicle emissions. Drivers parking their cars naturally expect a reasonable level of security, but three of the sites had no specific CCTV system to protect them. Increasing the number of site attendants wasn’t a cost-effective option, compared with the more efficient alternative of camera monitoring by the Council’s specialist CCTV control room operators.

Following detailed sites surveys, CBC’s Ganz C-Allview PTZ domes were installed. These high-speed rugged PTZ cameras, which are sealed to IP67, are designed for installation in harsh and challenging environments. Their vandal-resistant features include bodies cast from aluminium, which are hard anodised and powder coated to protect them from scratching, oxidation or attack from solvents.
